The general definition of “JEALOUSY” is the resentment against a rival, a person enjoying success or advantage, etc., or against another’s success or advantage itself. It is also the mental uneasiness from suspicion or fear of rivalry, unfaithfulness, etc., as in love or aims.

In Islam, Ghayrah (Arabic: غَيْرَة‎) (sometimes transliterated as ghayra, ghira, gheerah or gheera) is an Arabic word which means a person’s dislike of another’s sharing in a right (which belongs to the former). It has a sense of earnest concern or zeal over something and can be considered a kind of protective jealousy.

Biblically, James 3:16 says, “For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.”

And Proverbs 14:30 says, “A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot.”

With this said, let’s listen to a real discussion, from a female’s perspective on the issue.
