Interfaith Library vs. Duke Divinity School Library

Interfaith Library is a virtual library dedicated to interfaith dialogue, spiritual learning, and religious studies. The site was initially created to soften the tension between religious communities due to ideological differences and misinformation propagated by the media. It has grown into an information routing depot, a resource and supply bulletin board, a religious dialogue center, and a central station for all faith-based and non-religious communities to congregate peacefully and learn from each other, for the sake of humanity.

The founder and CEO of InterfaithLibrary.com, Imam Mekye Abdus Salaam, is a competent and dedicated educator & theologian with over 25 years of theological teaching experience as an Imam and spiritual advisor. He has studied classical and contemporary Arabic Lexicology & Grammar for numerous years and is proficient in classic Biblical Hebrew. His focus on creating an interfaith prayer space and providing spiritual counsel has been noted as part of his work in promoting interfaith unity.

Interfaith Library strives to provide a platform for multi-faith believers to converse, not to convert, and to understand each other’s beliefs. It aims to create a welcoming reflection space for people of different faiths and maintains a blog series and social media presence to facilitate dialogue.

As for Duke University’s Divinity School Library, it contains a collection of more than 400,000 volumes in the fields of religion and related disciplines and affords a wealth of material for seminary students. The library currently subscribes to over 700 religious periodicals, offers study facilities for students in its reading rooms, and houses a reference collection in religion. The library also offers a variety of services to assist students in selecting and locating information, including an online catalog and over 100 databases available through the Web, and a growing collection of electronic books. The library is part of the university’s library system, which possesses more than 6,200,000 volumes. The library also provides access to a wide variety of computerized resources and offers power, printing, and network connections for laptop computer use, book/chapter scanning, and wireless connectivity to the Internet throughout the library.

In conclusion, both Interfaith Library and Duke University’s Divinity School Library offer valuable resources for religious and spiritual information, but they differ in their approach and scope. Interfaith Library focuses on promoting interfaith dialogue and understanding, while Duke University’s Divinity School Library provides a comprehensive collection of academic resources for the study of religion and related disciplines. Depending on the specific needs and interests of the user, either resource may be suitable for accessing religious and spiritual information. Both institutions get the thumbs up.

  1. This is a perfect example of what effort can produce. A small vision vs a giant machine. You can tell that you put much work into this site to reach such heights. I’m proud to say I follow you. Keep it up.

  2. I just wanted you to know that I added this blog site to my feed reader. Great stuff. Cannot get enough!

  3. It’s hard to come by knowledgeable people in this particular space, but you look and sound like you know what you’re talking about! Thanks. I’m gonna keep my eyes on you.

  4. Hey great blog! Does running a blog such as this require a large amount of work?
I have very little expertise in computer programming but I had been hoping to start my own blog in the near future. Anyway, if you have any recommendations or techniques for new blog owners please share. I know this is off subject. Nevertheless, I just had to ask. Appreciate it!

    1. Hi there. Running a blog like this can become work sometimes but most time I’m on cruise control. I plan out the subject matter and how to present it. That’s the work. The presentation part is easy. For beginner bloggers, I recommend starting with web-builders that have pre-created templates (like WP). This way, all you do is input your info. Coding as a beginner can be the more difficult way to go.
