These next two cities are very unique Islamic cities because they don’t appear to be what non-Muslims would view as traditional Islamic cities. The first is Dar Es Salaam and the second is Zanzibar…(cities of Tanzania, East Africa).

Dar es Salaam (Dar) (from Arabic: دار السلام‎ Dār as-Salām, “the house of peace”; formerly Mzizima) is the former capital as well as the most populous city in Tanzaniaand a regionally important economic centre.[2] Located on the Swahili coast, the city is one of the fastest growing cities in the world.[3]

Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous region of Tanzania. It is composed of the Zanzibar Archipelago in the Indian Ocean, 25–50 kilometres off the coast of the mainland, and consists of many small islands and two large ones: Unguja and Pemba Island. The capital is Zanzibar City, located on the island of Unguja.
