TRAVEL TO THE HOLY CITY WITH US… (Jerusalem)
Jerusalem is a Holy Land for all three monotheistic religions. For Jews, Jerusalem is at the core of their faith and their world. According to Jewish tradition, all of creation began in Jerusalem.
For Christians, Jerusalem is considered holy because of its association with the birth, ministry, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.
Jerusalem is also considered a sacred city in Islamic tradition, along with Mecca and Medina. Muslims holds that previous prophets were associated with the city, and that the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) visited the city on his night’s journey (Isra & Mi’raj).
As we have seen in the videos above, the interacting of religion, nationality and ethnicity is part of the identity of every person in this country with all of the inherent personal and national complexities.
In addition to the Christian, Muslim and Jewish presence, there is also the Baha’i Temple in Haifa. Sadly, many people do not see the way to unity and accord in allowing all of these groups to live in harmony.
Every Saturday in Jerusalem many can hear church bells, the call of the Meuzzin to prayer for Muslims, and the siren announcing the beginning of our Sabbath. The many that live there can hear, see and feel the hope that joins them in a spiritual attachment to the One and Only One God.

TRAVEL THE RELIGIOUS WORLD WITH US… (Canada)
Religion in Canada encompasses a wide range of groups and beliefs. Christianity is the largest religion in Canada, with Roman Catholics having the most adherents. Christians, representing 67.2% of the population in 2015, are followed by people having no religion with 23.9% of the total population. Other faiths include Islam (3.2%), Hindus (1.5%), Sikhs (1.4%), Buddhists (1.1%), and Jews (1.0%).
Rates of religious adherence are steadily decreasing. The preamble to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms refers to God. The monarch carries the title of “Defender of the Faith“. However, Canada has no official religion, and support for religious pluralism and freedom of religion is an important part of Canada’s political culture. However, being religious can be a struggle for Canadians as well.

There are so many misrepresentations and misunderstandings about Islam. This new series is intended to take us all on a journey to visit places where Muslims live.
Oman is the first city I want to journey. I am partial to this beautiful country and its people because it’s the place of my formal Islamic education, Islamic cultural understanding, as well as being the first place I seen the true beauty of Islam.
Oman is a country that sits between the United Arab Emirates and Yemen on the Saudi Arabian Peninsula. Although it is a very dry and arid area of the world, I think it is truly a paradise on earth.
